college dilemma....please help!?

college dilemma....please help!?
okay, so i really want to attend mount mary college in milwaukee wisconsin because it has the programs i need (fashion merchandising), and it's a good location for me. plus, i go to a Christian high school that only has about 65 ppl TOTAL, so i like the fact that the environment is still small and affiliated with a religion. the only problem is that it's an all womens college, so im scared that i wont meet any guys and then ill like never get married and live a lonely loveless life. so does anyone know if there's like colleges (with men) nearby? like am i just being paranoid, or is this a legitimate reason not to attend...?

College is usually a maximum of 4 out of around 80 years of your life! I definately wouldn't worry too much, if I were you. Besides, you won't be on campus all of the time. You will have a social life, too, and spend time in a lot of public places where there are plenty of men.
2 :
My friend went to an all girl's college. She is neither lonely, nor loveless.
3 :
I am sure there are men nearby. Milwaukee does have other colleges too. I think you should choose the college that best suits your educational goals, since that is why you will be there. You will have plenty of time to focus on the other important things in life later. There are always going to be plenty of men out there, and I am sure in an all girls school, there will be plenty of girls to hang out with, get dressed up with, and go out to meet the guys.
4 :
Even if it is an all-women's college and even if there aren't other colleges with men nearby, I find it kind of hard to believe that there's not a single guy in your age range in the entire area. I find it equally hard to believe that you wouldn't be able to meet guys if you lived a normal life (i.e. one that doesn't involve you cloistering yourself away in your dorm room except for going to classes, meals, and the library). I think your best bet here would be to contact the school and see if they can put you in touch with a student or two so you can talk to them about life at Mount Mary. You can ask them about this as well as other things then. Plus, that would show the school you were interested in them -- interested enough to put in a little extra effort to get to know the place. Also though, keep in mind that even if the place was drowning in men that's no guarantee that you would meet a future spouse at college. Lots of people leave college single. There's a lot of life after college and that life includes plenty of chances to meet guys

It's really strange how you go to the trouble of capitalizing the first word of every word you type! If there a purpose for this? Yea, anyone separating always runs a risk of one of the other parties finding another lover or bf/gf. But if it was meant to be and your both committed, than it will happen (maybe marriage and children)!
4 :
I would love to support your feelings about the situation, but it all depends on his commitment to you, I hope everything works out for you both, the good thing is, if it does it was meant to be ! The only other thing to tell you is show him you trust and love him and give him some space 10 hrs on chat is a little much to handle with his studies !

Is there any way I can be free of this abuse, hate, agony and pain I have to experience every day?

Is there any way I can be free of this abuse, hate, agony and pain I have to experience every day?
I'm very bored & been depressed. The boredom is making me angry, frustrated, & depressed. I feel panicky, like my life is fading away. I feel like I have no purpose on this Earth, & people treat me like trash for no reason. People keep deleting me off of their MySpace for no reason, too. My cousin took me off of her friend's list for some unknown reason. My family hates me. Mom, dad, sisters, brothers, even twin sister, cousins, aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, etc. all hate me because I'm not thuggish. People who "know" me, all try to avoid me & think I'm crazy because of my OCD, anxiety, Tourette's, & severe depression; yet they tell me I shouldn't associate with strangers. I'm not 4 yrs. old. I don't need anyone telling me I shouldn't speak to strangers. I'm 25 with a BA degree in Spanish here in the US. I have to start back from scratch with beginner's Spanish. No one wants to communicate with me, in English or Spanish. People treat me like I have leprosy or some other plague. Just b/c of my neurological disability & anxiety/depression disorders. Yesterday, I told my friend that I may as well tear up & throw away my degree certificate, since so many people tell me that my college degree means nothing, & that I'll be a failure. & than no one will hire me on the job b/c of my Tourette's tics. Well, my friend got REALLY mad @ me & said, "I hope you're not freakin' serious!" I said, "No. I'm not serious. I'm just talking trash. But I do feel useless, hopeless, & worthless, like my life is over." She said, "It's a shame how people make you feel that lowly about yourself! It's not right. They're discriminating. They see your disability is obvious, so they should respect that. I'm always here for you." I just need that constant reassurance that she'll be there for me because I've had moments where people would be nice to me for a good 5 or 6 yrs., & they just all of a sudden turn their nose up @ me & try to avoid me, & I don't know what I did for them to betray me. They give me the silent treatment/cold shoulder. Some of them end up bullying me. My life is very complicated & unusual. & with this 1 friend, I pray EVERY day that she won't turn evil on me, based on other people's dirty opinions about me. My life is SO abnormal that people hardly believe anything that comes out of my mouth. You tell me how normal this is. I'm 25, & 12-yr. olds try to boss me around, tell me what to do, or try to control me & tell me how to live my life. & their parents try to MAKE me do what their child tells me to do. People treat me like I'm too stupid to know left from right. Like I don't know any better. I remember 1 time, I was in college, & I saw a former high school teacher of mine @ WalMart. She SAW me graduate from high school, walking across the stage, receiving my diploma, in the top 10% of my class. 39 out of 410 students. & this lady asked me, publicly in front of everyone in WalMart, if I know how to cook for myself & take care of myself. I'm like, "This is sad!!" I have a college degree, & 1 of the foster sisters (I used to be in foster care) asked me if I know how to cook easy mac in the microwave! Wow! If I can get my degree, drive from Milwaukee, Wisconsin ALL the way back to New Orleans, ... I have nothing else to say. I feel like crying. I'm about to melt down. I'm tired of suffering. I just stay home here in Texas. Employers don't want to hire me. I have only 1 friend, & I'm afraid she might turn against me like everyone else. I feel like I have nobody. I just stay in my apt. all day. I have social anxiety. I can't walk out the door of my apartment without someone telling me something dirty or staring @ me. Every interaction with another human being puts me @ risk for going to jail for disturbing the peace with my TS outbursts, or the mental hospital b/c people bully me, & the cops don't care about my disability. I had 2 strokes @ age 5. Every day I have physical aches & pains. Indigestion & IBS, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, no energy at all. I'm always sick. I'm afraid I might not live long. & with all this stress, I might have a heart attack or another stroke. I'm so scared. Very scared. & no one understands nor cares about me.

Wow. You need to turn your life over to Christ and see a Christian psychiatrist. I'm serious - This isn't a put down. You may have a brain injury that needs attention. And as far as emotional scars - nothing like the "Great Physician" to heal those. Do what I say and you'll change: Go to a large evangelical church and seek pastoral counseling. Then ask for a referal to a Christian psychiatrist - a larger church may have those resources.

Wow that is very sad. Have you thought of going to a support group for other people with TS or seeking counseling? You might make some super friends in the support group. You might also find some people with TS on Yahoo Groups or some of the other online forums. This way you'll meet people and you can share experiences, advice, and get support. Could you work from home doing medical transcription or typing? This doesn't require verbal communication. I know it's an isolating disease. I'm very sorry to hear of your problems. I care but I don't know how to help other than listen.

What should I do about my family?

What should I do about my family?
Well I think I should add a bit of detail: I am a 14 year old middle class boy, I live around Milwaukee Wisconsin, I love basketball and 90's hip hop, and I am generally happy. But when I am alone, I reflect on the problems in my life and the hardships that I go through. I don't want to sound like a complainer or a whiner because I know there are people far worse off than me. MY 5 BEST FRIENDS: My Dad: My father is an interesting guy. He is one of the nicest and smartest people I know. He only cares about me and my grandfather, and that makes me feel secure. But my father has had a terrible life. He has terrible health problems and has had too many surgeries to count. He is a regular visitor at St. Luke's. But besides the obvious negative side of having an awful immune system, he has developed a terrible disease: addiction. He is a painkiller addict, and a bad one. When he's high, it's like I'm talking to some perverted lunatic. He talks about him and his girlfriend's sex life and all of these things I don't need to hear. It's really disturbing. I just try to ignore it and pray that the next time I see him he isn't all screwed up on oxycontin. My brothers: My brother's, Marcus and Lawrence, have seperate problems. They were both very important in me growing up. Even though they are my step brothers, I've known them since as far back as I can remember. They are a good 15 years older than me, but they are still brothers. Anyway, let's start with Marcus. when he was around 16 he started smoking weed and drinking. My stepdad flipped and kicked him out. That probably wasn't a good idea because in about a year he developed an oxycontin addiction, like my pops. He is off of it now, but it has left him scarred. He is very slow and shaky and he talks very monotonously. I used to look up to him when I was little, but now he is very boring and hard to relate to. Now lets talk about my brother Lawrence. Me and him would drive around and run errands every weekend. It was my favorite thing to do. He was so much fun, and I looked up to him like he was Ghandi. But he wasn't too bright, and he was very desperate. He met a girl and he adored her. He would not stop talking to her on the phone. It turns out that after 2 weeks after meeting eachother, they moved in together. Another week went by, and Lawrence bought her a Suburban. Let's keep in mind, my brother is a truck driver. She convinced him that his family was against him. We knew what was going on so we confronted him. The next week, they were never heard of again. We think they live in South Carolina. So that's 3 of my best friends who I've lost. My Maternal Grandma and Grandpa. They lived in Northern Wisconsin. They were the best grandparents anyone could ask for. They bought a big expensive basketball hoop so I could work on my game up north. I was very close with them. But my grandfather wasn't the guy he seemed like. It turns out he is a petty criminal. He has been running scams to survive. To save money, he would pump his waste into the lake up north.(I know that sounds very redneck, but he was more like a mob boss). He faked a robbery at his jewelry shop for insurance money. He hadn't paid taxes all his life. He was a small time crook. His next victim? My mom and my aunt. He pulled some fancy financial lever that made my mom and aunt pay all of there expenses and leave us broke. We got all of our money back, thankfully, but that hasn't patched the emotional scar. That's 5 best friends gone with the wind. I have all the material posessions that a kid could want. I have a tv, and xbox, turntables, food, a bed, and all that good stuff. I'm popular at school and I'm good with girls. I get good grades. But I still have a life that's full of thoughts that I wish were reality. I know life can't be perfect, and I'd give all that stuff up just to have those 5 people in my life. How should I cope (specifically with my dad)? Dear Erin, I'm sorry that your angry, but come on. Your Yahoo answers advice isn't really that important to me. And you don't know me. So don't judge. Oh wait let me guess, you probably judged me by my profile picture thing. Well don't, because it's Hank Hill from my favorite show. So shut up.

The one thing you don't have is a good counselor. Start with your school or your church and see if there's someone who can give you real guidance. No one's family is perfect, but yours seems to be wrought with serious issues. Unfortunately you can only control yourself, and how you deal with those around you. Because you've seen firsthand, the way drugs can ruin a person's life, and their health, even legal drugs like painkillers; hopefully you will stay away from things like that. Sometimes understanding how you do NOT want to live your life, is as valuable and having a plan of how you WANT your life to turn out. I am so sorry the ones you love have been a bit of a disappointment but don't give up. Find someone to talk to you, who wll help you deal with things. Good luck.
3 :
Ok, a few things to start with, I don't usually answer stuff like this because this is my real life job I answer scam related questions, as you will see if you click my name I do the scam stuff as a hobby, if you want to know more about what I do as a real life job, answer in the link after my name You need to decide how to close off your family problems from where you see yourself in 5? 10? years time. You're still in school? Try and stay there You don't know which direction to take? Ask And most importantly, don't expect your teachers to know what is going to happen next Train for everything, learn everything, open your mind to things past, and what will come. Material possesions may be great for you, I've lived in societies where material possessions were a fishing line, and 5 hooks, a thatch roof, and water from a stream. John Delaney

Which college/university should I attend to major in computer engineering?

Which college/university should I attend to major in computer engineering?
I have received acceptance letters from all five of the colleges I applied to earlier in the fall. For each of them I have been accepted into their computer engineering program. U of I (Urbana Champaign) University of Wisconsin Madison University of Minnesota Twin Cities Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Milwaukee School of Engineering I have an unweighted GPA of 3.88 and a composite ACT score of 30. I have a real passion for computers and I know for a fact that I want to major in computer engineering. And if it makes any difference, I currently live in the Chicagoland area. Any thoughts on which school I should pick? p.s. $ may become a bit of an issue in the spring if FAFSA doesn't turn out well, however I would appreciate advice that doesn't completely center around the tuition factor.

Rose-Hulman is the best engineering college in the US which does not have a doctoral degree program. Seriously examine its computer engineering program. I do not have particulars about this program, but there is no reason to speculate that it is not up to Rose-Hulman's very high standards.

If money is an issue, go to Illinois (assuming you are in state). Otherwise, here are some suggestions for gathering the information you need to make a good decision. Have you visited the campuses? If not, I encourage you to do so. Visit overnight if possible so you can experience a dorm, talk to current students, try the food, etc. Are all programs ABET accredited? If, so, then Look at the general education requirements. Look at the coursework required for a computer engineering major. How many courses are required? How much time will you have for electives? Are there any requirements that particularly appeal to you or that you would not want to take? Are there opportunities for undergraduate research, capstone projects, honors degrees, etc.? Consider factors such as class size, campus ambiance, faculty ratings on RateMyProfessor Consider the availability of academic support if you need it. Consider special opportunities such as study abroad, internships, extracurricular activities, themed housing, sports, etc.

Where would be the best place to donate some books

Where would be the best place to donate some books?
I know this is long but God bless is you can find some time to help. I have a ton of books of 4-6th grade reading level that I enjoyed, but no longer read. (I'm a freshman now). It's sad to part with em, but I think it would do more good to donate them. I know I could donate them to the local library or a school, but these places already have tons and tons of books. Also, consider that not that many 4-6 graders go to the library and read for fun anymore. My English teacher was talking about how in other countries many people may share a book and read it at the same time. He once gave a book to a man in Korea and the man cried because no one in his family ever owned a book. People in my town don't need more books really. I want to send them to a place where they don't have many books, maybe outside the United States. A problem is that the people have to be English-speaking for obvious reasons. Another thing is that lack of books is associated with low literacy and these books are up to US 7th grade level. Can you think of a place that will appreciate these books the most? I have about 15 hardcover and paperback chapter books and another 20 short nonfiction books on animals. Also, what would be the cheapest way to mail them? Is there any charity that might help with this? I live near Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The cost of shipping those books would be in the hundreds. Check with a Local Church especially Mormons or Protestants. They send Missionaries and might be able to carry the books for you.
2 :
Check with the inner-city schools in Milwaukee to see if their children could use them; I know the elementary school near my workplace was thrilled to get donated books in good condition that they could give to the children. A poor urban Milwaukee child may be just as thrilled to get a book they can actually keep as the Korean man to whom your English teacher gave a book

IMMENSE HELP ? : ? (social)?

IMMENSE HELP ? : ? (social)?
In my lifetime I have moved everywhere. I have no home in my heart. When I was 1, i moved to calgary, when i was 9, i moved to Hamilton, Ont, and when i was 11 I moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin. I never really liked it in Wisconsin, so i ran away when I was 18 and joined the armed forces.... There I have gone everywhere like North Carolina and washington DC. I didn't like it in WDC or Wisconsin.... Wen i got out of the army I moved to fredericksburg Texas w/ my girlfriend. I went to school there a while, but, in the end i got tired of all the no name drug dealers around and moping around w/ no one, and the ignorant peeple who didnt understand my veterans status (95% or 100% of people werhe very nice there). I drove up to canada tosee my nephew and my brother, on a straight shot. It was pretty hard getting here. Ive felt abused from people in the army, etc, and felt like I was always left in the dark about everything. im now living in winnipeg now and working a job at a Korean market. Though my grandparents really underappreciate me, for that Ive fixed all of there computer problems, shoveled their snow mowed their lawn every single day & bought them all sorts of dinners/rent, I quit my job for one day while im here b/c im waiting on federal emp, and they get mad at me, (i quit my job at a construction zone b/c i needed to call my circuit courts in tex to make sure my problems were fixed up, and also i was afraid that the jackhammer dust was settling in my lungs wen they didnt provide me a proper mask.), so i quit my job one day & go without a job 12 days, or maybe 8.5, and they freak out on me even tho' im working Temp./looking. They tell everyone, every single person behind my back about it, and always complain about me being here when im not looking... I dont even love my mom and dad, i dont want to go back to milwaukee, it sucks there, and i was thinking about going out on a limb b/c a friend west of Medicine Hat, Ab, in a city of 15K, has offered me to move there to get a job "roofing houses" for 20.00. Which would be decent wages. I dont want to move to saskatoon b/c i would feel imposing on my brother, even though he is "dying for me to come out", in a way. I would feel like I'm mooching off all his friends, and bargaining for his friends like i have a right to them, + hes doing ecstacy while caring for his baby, and partying like that. The main reson why i dont want to move to Sask. is because of his Xtacy using. I cant find a fucking job here besides making $9.00 an hour anyway. i fought for my country in the us, did what was demanded of me, and lost my conscious in the process & seem became a psychopath in the process. I only know the chick who's inviting me to W> of Medicine Hat off the internet. Shes been a longterm buddy, and its just face value, just talking and platonic. Tho' i know shes done drugs like meth and crank in the past, i 'kno that now she is off of them, as she has told me, and is taking care of her 2 kids and is very caring. I know that she gets a good disability and pension b/c of having a heart murmur/defect so she doesnt even have to work, and she keeps the internet, and keeps good care of her kids, But, is that enough to trust her on? Im alienated past all my old friends anyways, to the point where my old friends are fucked up anyways and are like newspaper editorial publishers from calgary who have too little time to talk to me, and the other from calgary hates me after I disclosed to him i was in the army, as he is a Vietnamese supporter and has visitied vietnam, and is like a procommunist and antisoldier person. I feel ike i've lost all my friends anyways and become actually a psychopath, so I feel like why shouldnt I move to medicine hat, where i have atleast a slim posibility at a social life? & If i get a job? I mean right now here, it isnt the economic thing, because I still have a bit (26 months wo), of my MGI bill / army college money that they'll let me use. So i could be doing that over hear. But I DUNNO WHAT I WANT TO DO. Im dropping wisconsin like its ghonhorrea. Dont like it.. LOL. Dont kno as what i should do. What are your thoughts? Id probably be making 1600 $ every 2 weeks doing the roofing.... And Id probably apply for a postal job if I got wore out of that job, physically... Its only like 94 miles away from a great great uncle, 5 cousins and my mothers cousins, and some miscelaneous people...

I am from Iowa and I know what you are talking about with wisconsin! they are a little bit red necked there. I think you really need to get some counseling. You also need to decide what you would like to do as a way of making a living. Cutting ties with those that are drug addicts is probably a good idea too. You need to make yourself happy, not anyone else! You are making yourself unhappy trying to make your family and friend happy. Thank you for your service in the military and good luck!

Does anyone know a website or facility somewhere in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I could get my G.E.D or H.S.E.D for free? The only way I'm going to be able to get an at least half way decent job is if I have some sort of high school diploma. Any help is GREATLY, GREALTY appreciated!

Look up adult school in your area. You can earn High School Diploma instead of GED in about the same amount of time.

Adult High School is your best bet, or if your prepared you can take the G.E.D. test and if you pass it you can earn your G.E.D. Just search for a G.E.D. testing center in your area on google =]

Sport Broadcasters are usally, Ex-Sport players so I would say the best road to take is to become a Jurnalist and Jurnal on Sports. Hopefully that can get you there But to be honest. If you Loook at all the names Of Broadcasters most of them played sports.
2 :
Ryan One step at a time! First, you need to get the grades up, right?! So get yourself registered at your local Junior College. Next, get a job as a waiter or expediter at a good local restaurant, or a job in a bank.... but time to leave McD's..... but don;t quit till yoiu have the new job.... give proper notice! Then, if possible get a few good J.C. units in at Summer Session. You will get a leg up by knowing the system and procedures there.... IT IS NOT LIKE High School (thank goodness). Looks like you realize that it is time to start moving in a positive direction, So stop doing the wrong things, and do the right ones! Soccerref

There is no reason you can't have a minor in music with a CJ major, as long as it is allowed by the school. You have selected some good schools. They all have web sites. If the answer can't be found there, they will list telephone numbers and email addresses of the Admissions department. Contact them and ask if it will be allowed

Do you think its fair illegals will get in-state tuition isn't this in Violation of FEDERAL LAWS?

Do you think its fair illegals will get in-state tuition isn't this in Violation of FEDERAL LAWS?
Some illegal immigrant high school graduates will be able to attend Wisconsin state universities by paying in-state tuition, under a provision in the two-year budget Gov. Jim Doyle signed into law Monday. Wisconsin now becomes the 11th state to enact such a law. To qualify, students would have to reside in the state for three years, graduate from a Wisconsin high school or earn an equivalency degree here. The students would have to apply through the normal channels. It's estimated from 400 to 650 illegal immigrants annually graduate from state high schools, but they must pay out-of-state tuition if they enroll in the state university system or technical colleges. In-state tuition at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is $7,576 a year in the 2008-'09 school year, compared with out-of-state tuition, which is $17,306. State Rep. Pedro Colón (D-Milwaukee) first introduced the in-state college tuition measure in 1999, when he was new to the Assembly. "I really think this gets us back on course with our brightest having more access to education," he said. "It's not a huge scholarship program, but an important step for more access to higher education than we had yesterday." Immigrant advocates who have pushed for the measure attended the signing in Madison. Christine Neumann-Ortiz, director of Voces de la Frontera, an immigrant and worker rights organization, called it "a historic step forward in recognizing the civil rights of immigrants in the area of education." Opponents such as state Sen. Glenn Grothman (R-West Band) criticized the provision. http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/49470657.html

Totally fair! there are hundreds and hundreds of American kids that have the opportunity to go to college but don't, or worst, they have full paid scholarships but decide to drop out and live on the streets instead.

It doesn't matter as far as the material you will be required to learn, the employers who will hire you, nor long-term value of the school. All engineering programs that are accredited are looked upon similarly. Each school will tend to have recruiters from different companies come it to interview graduating seniors, and to offer internships. In general, MSOE tends to have the lowest reputation and in my opinion is in the worst area for living. Rose is a top rated non-graduate school. Since you are in Illinois, Champaign-Urbana is probably cheaper, warmer in winter than all but maybe Terre Haute, so based on those things, I'd suggest U of I. I think their colors are the worst. Sports at MSOE are pretty much non-existent, so you have to walk a mile or so thru bad neighborhoods to Marquette to see basketball.

As someone who works at a film college (Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy in Chicago), I can give you a little advice in this area. First of all, you should maximize your time as much as possible. The longer you're in school, there becomes a better chance that the technology you learned in your first two years will no longer be used in the industry after you graduate. You want to pick a program that will teach you the latest stuff as quickly as possible, so that when you leave you'll be able to enter job interviews with a firm grasp of everything their production and editing team uses. You also need to read up on the faculty. If the faculty is not staying current on the latest technologies by staying active outside of the classroom, you're cheating yourself. It's a hard truth of college programs that many professors begin to teach because they no longer want to learn. Make sure the people you're learning from still have an appetite for educating themselves, and you'll get a much higher quality education because of it. Finally, make sure the program you choose has a collaborative curriculum. Film making is a collaborative process in the real world, and you can't learn to do it on your own. You need to work with colleagues in your major, but you also need to work with the people who will be editing the sound, doing the lighting, directing the picture -- the whole success of the project is dependent on the crew's ability to work as a team with everyone involved. So if you're not sold on UW Milwaukee (which I should point out is a fine school, although I don't know much about their film program), I'd look into the other schools your considering and ask the questions above. I also think you should look into our film program. You won't be disappointed. If you have any questions or want to know more, I run Tribeca Flashpoint's Facebook page. Ask me a question, post a comment, or strike up a conversation with our students. I hope to hear from you! Good luck until then! - Kristin Hertko

I was wondering what skills do you need to be a lawyer or paralegal ? is it better just to strive to be a lawyer or should i settle with being a paralegal or is being a paralegal better ? Also what are some general admittions requirements for law school? in Wisconsin ? and what should i aim to get when i take the ACTs in June so that i can insure i will get in to law school ?? i was thinking about marquette university in milwaukee wisconsin ? please helpp !!! thank you

With that horrible grammar, and horrible GPA. You won't get into ANY law school or any college.
2 :
There are still states that will permit you to practice law if you simply submit a brief before the bar and if they accept it you will receive a license to set up your very own private practice. Some do not even require graduate school. Not all law schools have tough requirements to attend. I believe Montana is one of the easiest to be accepted, all you need is a High School Diploma. Good luck, I hope you have a thriving practice and do a lot of Pro Bono work.
3 :
Because of your grades, you might have difficulty being accepted outright to a four-year university. The community college --> four-year university for your bachelor's degree route might be the best option. In addition, you'd get quite a cost savings out of choosing community college for your first two years. To get into law school, you need a bachelor's degree in any subject from an accredited institution. You also need an LSAT score. The LSAT (law school admission test) is like the SAT or ACT, except for law school. The LSAT tests logical reasoning, reading comprehension, as well as your ability to solve logic puzzles - all skills considered useful in law school. When you apply to law school, you do not submit your high school transcripts. Take comfort in that - once you go to college, your high school grades won't really matter anymore. Instead you send in your college transcripts. You also submit letters of recommendation (usually two to three) and a personal statement. Law school admissions are mostly based on your undergraduate GPA and your LSAT score, so you want to keep your grades up as high as you can in college and study for the LSAT. Most people who do well on the LSAT dedicate at least three months to preparing by taking lots of practice tests and reading prep books. If you want to practice law in Wisconsin, you should go to the University of Wisconsin Law. It's just the best law school in the state. I *believe* that Wisconsin has a law saying that anyone who graduates law school in Wisconsin automatically passes the bar, whereas in other states, a person needs to take a bar exam to become licensed. There are pros and cons to being a lawyer and a paralegal. Lawyers usually make more. There's also less paperwork/gruntwork and more prestige. On the other hand, paralegals don't have to go deep in debt for law school. They make less, but they don't need to make as much to pay back their student loans. Paralegals get to do some attorney-level work depending on the firm, but it's not going to be as challenging. Maybe that's what you want, though. Fortunately, you have many years to think about exactly what you want to do. Good luck

Milwaukee is a better place to live than Ames, Iowa, in my opinion (Ames would be too 'small' of a city for me to live in). Both programs are very good, and are ranked in the top 20 in the country according to US News. You should visit both universities to get a feel of the cities, the people, and the life in general. My vote goes to UW-Milwaukee, only because of the city

Freelance Photographer-Commerical. How much to charge?

Freelance Photographer-Commerical. How much to charge?
I'm wondering how much I should charge for a days work as a photographer shooting commerically? I normally do portraits so i'm not 100% how much this area of work charges. I'm in south east wisconsin/Milwaukee. I got ask how much i would charge by someone who had seen my work at school, so any ideas? Thanks My focus in school was Commerical Photography, I just hadn't found work and its SO easy to do portraits. (so many people wanting good pictures!) I also do weddings. But now that I finally found some commerical work, and my profolio being commerical, I don't know how to charge.

Here's a good calculator for finding out what your daily rate should be: http://nppa.org/professional_development/business_practices/cdb/cdbcalc.cfm You can also look at what other photographers in your field if interest charge.
2 :
When I calculate my prices it's based on the following elements... 1. My Knowledge :: If I'm limited in a field, I'm going to take that into concideration. How long have I been doing something? Do I have any professional training in that specific field? 2. Cost of goods :: How much will it take to produce teh final product? Concider cost of film (if you use it), printing costs, equipment costs (maintenance on equip - upgrades - etc), 3. Time :: How long am I going to be on this project? How much money am I losing by taking this job? Am I sacrificing time with my family to do this job? 4. Competitors :: How much are competitors charging? Can I do as good as them? Can I undercut them and still make a profit? Am I better than them? 5. Cost of Living :: Am I making enough to cover my life? Will I cover a payment on a car? Can I afford to go out to dinner a few more times? Also - bare in mind Commercial Photography isn't like portrait photography, it's an art in itself. I could never switch from Portrait to Commercial (and i've been doin portrait for 10 years nwo) and do the work a commercial photographer could produce whose been in the business 5 years. Take some time to read up on it. Below is a link to a GREAT set of commercial photography books: http://www.amherstmedia.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=CM

I don't want to try to be friends with someone that hates me but the fact she does just makes me want to rip out my hair. Why doesn't she like me? And what did I do?

Transportaton to Addison?

Hello. I'm currently a college student at a 2 year school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I'm graduating in the fall of 2009 and I plan on moving to addison, illinois to attend Devry University. This month on October 17, I plan to travel to Addison, Illinois to take a tour of the school and meet with an adviser. I will be traveling via greyhound to the bus station located at 630 W HARRISON ST. The school is located at 1221 N. Swift Rd. What form of transportation can I take from the greyhound bus station in chicago to Devry Universtiy located in Addison, Illinois? I'm looking for a not so expensive mode of transportation to take me from the greyhound bus station to devry and vice versa.

You will be going from the Greyhound station to Union Station. If you are traveling on a weekday, you can cross Des Plaines and take a #156 or #157 bus from the Harrison & Des Plaines bus loop, right across the street from the Greyhound station, to Union Station. At any time, you can take a #60 bus eastbound on Harrison. Or, you can walk, it's only three blocks east and three blocks north. Or a short cab ride. It really depends on how much time you have to catch the train. You will take the Metra train west to Addison. It will be at Union station at Canal & Adams, follow the signs inside Union station to the North Concourse. You wil be on the Milwaukee District West Line, but I'm not sure which station. Buy a round trip ticket before you get on the train--you pay an extra fee to buy it from the conductor. Call DeVry at 630-953-1300 and ask which Metra station they're near and if it's close enough to walk. They have cabs at bigger stations. Too bad you aren't getting there via Amtrak. It would be a simple matter of walking from the south end of the train station to the north end of the same train station.
2 :
There are more than one campus for DeVry. Make sure you enter the correct address on the following transportation site. The Greyhound bus terminal is one of the locations on the pull-down menu. There are 2 possible routes on train and bus. It's about a 2 hr ride but the fare is under $6.00. See below: http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/

Another Spendulus outrage; who is planning this stimulus package anyway?

Milwaukee Public Schools would reap $88.6 million over two years for new construction under the economic stimulus package just passed by the U.S. House of Representatives - even though the district has 15 vacant school buildings, a large surplus of property and no plans for new construction. No district in the state would stand to benefit as much as MPS. In addition to the construction money, the district would get $115.5 million for special education and low income students over two years, according to detailed projections developed by congressional staffers. That totals $204.2 million for Milwaukee. http://www.allamericanblogger.com/6469/wisconsin-school-with-15-vacant-school-buildings-a-large-surplus-of-property-and-no-plans-for-new-construction-to-receive-886-million-over-two-years-for-new-construction-under-the/ Hey trout good to see you aren't busy digging your bunker today. My solution is simple, take out the pork and put in real stimulus that attacke the problem...mortgage relief, encourage consumer spending, tax relief and sustainable jobs. By the way, the TARP act was a democratic bill, only 18 Republicans voted for it in the house, Bush signed it and he should have his azz kicked for it. Please try to keep up in the future.

Or should he continue to allow the federal reserve to print it and then loan that to the government thus ensuring the slavery of the people to the corporate and privately owned bankers who rule over you with no trouble at all ? Your complaint is well founded but incomplete and with no solution in sight -- What is your solution ? . What would you have him do that was not following the Bush era of turning to the printing press to save the rich from certain inconvenience ?

Do people from Wisconsin have an accent?

I have heard that we say things like "Malk" and "Muhwaukee" but I say "milk and Milwaukee" and I've lived there my whole life. Do we have an accent? I'm asking people that don't live there, as I've been taught in school that you don't hear your own accent. Maybe it's because I say "bayg" instead of "bag" I know everyone has an accent, but do people from Wisconsin have a *distinctive* accent?

Yes. You do have an accent. You won't notice it because you grew up with it.
2 :
Everyone has an accent. The common misconception that you, and people who you know that live in the same area as you, don't have an accent is because you grew up hearing it and you just don't pay attention to it. People with a British accent don't think they have an accent because that's normal to them.

Everyone has an accent. My cousins live in Wisconsin, and I hear them and people there talk. Once, to test their accent, I asked them to say "The dragon dragged the bag over the moon." They said it like "The draygen draygged the bayg over the mooon."

Yeah, people from Wisconsin have a very distinct accent. I can't always tell the many American dialects, but the Wisconsin-dialect is easy to pick out

UW-Milwaukee or Marquette

I can't decide between Marquette University and University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee I live in Vermont, so Keene State and Champlain are on the top of my list but I think I want to leave and go to Wisconsin (where my brother lives) and I can't figure out which one to go to Can someone explain to me the location of the schools like ghetto, middle of the city, anything to help me get a better idea of what school I should choose.

You're making a choice here between a secondary public university and a fairly good private school. That's going to dictate your choice I think ... not the street address of the administration building

What are some good colleges around the Wisconsin-Illinois area

Just wondering, I'm planning on applying to: University of Wisconsin (Madison), University of Wisconsin (Milwaukee), University of Illinois, University of Chicago, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and Northwestern University. Are these good enough? Btw I'm not some expert-genius student, I'm just an above-average high schooler, so how hard exactly is it to get into Chicago/Illinois?, because people at school say these are one of the best universities in the country. I'm planning on majoring in CompScience/Engineering (not fully sure yet). And yes I'm only looking for colleges around this area...long story. So, any help?

Hard to get into UW Madison, I'd try other UW schools like Platteville. Milwaukee is a good one for engineering.

Well if University of Wisconsin-Madison is a good school. If your willing to look at schools in Michigan then University of Michigan-Ann Arbor would be one along with Michigan State University. All of these schools are ranked in top 100.

The best CS/Engineering schools in that area are U Illinois Urbana, U Wisconsin Madison, U Michigan Ann Arbor, Northwestern U. And lucky you, those are some of the strongest engineering/CS schools in the country, and considered good overall universities as well. They rank top 15 in engineering/CS. You really have some great choices there. You don't need to be a genius to go to those schools. You need to work hard. You can look up the average GPA and SATs of admitted students at each of these schools via the Princeton Review website. Others in your area that have good reps in your possible fields include Michigan State U, Illinois Institute of Tech, U Illinois Chicago, Kettering U, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Bradley U, and Michigan Tech U. Those aren't as "OMG, you went where?" as the others, above, but they are well respected, solid programs. U Chicago is an interesting choice. They are, of course, one of the top overall universities in the nation, but that said, they aren't top ranked for CS or Engineering.

U of W Madison, U of I Urbana, U of Chicago, U of Michigan, and Northwestern are all extremely tough to get into. If you are just an above average student, why not try going to a local community college for 2 years, then transferring to one of these places, when it will be easier to be admitted? You could then also see if comp sci is the field for you or not
