Transportaton to Addison?

Hello. I'm currently a college student at a 2 year school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I'm graduating in the fall of 2009 and I plan on moving to addison, illinois to attend Devry University. This month on October 17, I plan to travel to Addison, Illinois to take a tour of the school and meet with an adviser. I will be traveling via greyhound to the bus station located at 630 W HARRISON ST. The school is located at 1221 N. Swift Rd. What form of transportation can I take from the greyhound bus station in chicago to Devry Universtiy located in Addison, Illinois? I'm looking for a not so expensive mode of transportation to take me from the greyhound bus station to devry and vice versa.

You will be going from the Greyhound station to Union Station. If you are traveling on a weekday, you can cross Des Plaines and take a #156 or #157 bus from the Harrison & Des Plaines bus loop, right across the street from the Greyhound station, to Union Station. At any time, you can take a #60 bus eastbound on Harrison. Or, you can walk, it's only three blocks east and three blocks north. Or a short cab ride. It really depends on how much time you have to catch the train. You will take the Metra train west to Addison. It will be at Union station at Canal & Adams, follow the signs inside Union station to the North Concourse. You wil be on the Milwaukee District West Line, but I'm not sure which station. Buy a round trip ticket before you get on the train--you pay an extra fee to buy it from the conductor. Call DeVry at 630-953-1300 and ask which Metra station they're near and if it's close enough to walk. They have cabs at bigger stations. Too bad you aren't getting there via Amtrak. It would be a simple matter of walking from the south end of the train station to the north end of the same train station.
2 :
There are more than one campus for DeVry. Make sure you enter the correct address on the following transportation site. The Greyhound bus terminal is one of the locations on the pull-down menu. There are 2 possible routes on train and bus. It's about a 2 hr ride but the fare is under $6.00. See below: http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/

Another Spendulus outrage; who is planning this stimulus package anyway?

Milwaukee Public Schools would reap $88.6 million over two years for new construction under the economic stimulus package just passed by the U.S. House of Representatives - even though the district has 15 vacant school buildings, a large surplus of property and no plans for new construction. No district in the state would stand to benefit as much as MPS. In addition to the construction money, the district would get $115.5 million for special education and low income students over two years, according to detailed projections developed by congressional staffers. That totals $204.2 million for Milwaukee. http://www.allamericanblogger.com/6469/wisconsin-school-with-15-vacant-school-buildings-a-large-surplus-of-property-and-no-plans-for-new-construction-to-receive-886-million-over-two-years-for-new-construction-under-the/ Hey trout good to see you aren't busy digging your bunker today. My solution is simple, take out the pork and put in real stimulus that attacke the problem...mortgage relief, encourage consumer spending, tax relief and sustainable jobs. By the way, the TARP act was a democratic bill, only 18 Republicans voted for it in the house, Bush signed it and he should have his azz kicked for it. Please try to keep up in the future.

Where were you when Bush printed 1,500 billion dollars in a few months to save the insurance companies from extinction because the banks needed to buy out the mortgages of people they already kicked out ? When Bush turned the tax payer upside down shook him -- took out 1,500 billion handed it to the bank to buy property with --- where were you then ? Yes this turning to the printing press is the way to hyper inflation and the complete collapse of the dollar and the economy. Yes Obama is following the wrong path by doing it too . He is wrong to follow the Bush path into hell blazed for him by crooks and thieves who did nothing but profit off death and war . What is your suggestion ? What should he do ? Perhaps -- taking back the federal governments power to print money and circulating that without interest into the population? Or should he continue to allow the federal reserve to print it and then loan that to the government thus ensuring the slavery of the people to the corporate and privately owned bankers who rule over you with no trouble at all ? Your complaint is well founded but incomplete and with no solution in sight -- What is your solution ? . What would you have him do that was not following the Bush era of turning to the printing press to save the rich from certain inconvenience ?

Pelosi is in charge of the so called stimulus package and has her and the liberals christmas wish list that they couldn't pass the last forty years. it is a sham and it is being perpetrated on us, the tax payers. Nancy Pelosi seems to be taking exaggeration to another level. On January 18th on Fox News Sunday, Nancy Pelosi stated that 500 million jobs would be lost unless Obamas stimulus package was passed by Congress. Chris Wallace corrected her, stating she probably meant 500,000 jobs. Pelosi responded in her own defense, It feels like 500 million. The population of the United States is 303 million, Ms. Pelosi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVl2nqjLVeA This is worst than the 57-58 states Barrack spoke about while running for president. It goes to show you that they just make this stuff up as they go. There are less than 350 millions of Americans adults and children. She is not even close. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDA0QRz1JzE&NR=1 democrats has the majority of votes to pass this and do not need republicans but they want republican to vote for it so blame can be 'shared' for the failure. they do not want to take the blame exclusively. this is the only thing that i agree with pelosi on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59q8waklXhs

I know there is a little prejudice everywhere in america, and I've been thinking about going to school in Madison or Milwaukee. I've heard the hispanic population is very small in both cities, but I don't know anyone with personal experience.

Do people from Wisconsin have an accent?

I have heard that we say things like "Malk" and "Muhwaukee" but I say "milk and Milwaukee" and I've lived there my whole life. Do we have an accent? I'm asking people that don't live there, as I've been taught in school that you don't hear your own accent. Maybe it's because I say "bayg" instead of "bag" I know everyone has an accent, but do people from Wisconsin have a *distinctive* accent?
Languages - 4 Answers

1 :
Yes. You do have an accent. You won't notice it because you grew up with it.
2 :
Everyone has an accent. The common misconception that you, and people who you know that live in the same area as you, don't have an accent is because you grew up hearing it and you just don't pay attention to it. People with a British accent don't think they have an accent because that's normal to them.
3 :
Everyone has an accent. My cousins live in Wisconsin, and I hear them and people there talk. Once, to test their accent, I asked them to say "The dragon dragged the bag over the moon." They said it like "The draygen draygged the bayg over the mooon."
4 :
Yeah, people from Wisconsin have a very distinct accent. I can't always tell the many American dialects, but the Wisconsin-dialect is easy to pick out

What are some good colleges around the Wisconsin-Illinois area

Just wondering, I'm planning on applying to: University of Wisconsin (Madison), University of Wisconsin (Milwaukee), University of Illinois, University of Chicago, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and Northwestern University. Are these good enough? Btw I'm not some expert-genius student, I'm just an above-average high schooler, so how hard exactly is it to get into Chicago/Illinois?, because people at school say these are one of the best universities in the country. I'm planning on majoring in CompScience/Engineering (not fully sure yet). And yes I'm only looking for colleges around this area...long story. So, any help?

Hard to get into UW Madison, I'd try other UW schools like Platteville. Milwaukee is a good one for engineering.
2 :
Well if University of Wisconsin-Madison is a good school. If your willing to look at schools in Michigan then University of Michigan-Ann Arbor would be one along with Michigan State University. All of these schools are ranked in top 100.
3 :
The best CS/Engineering schools in that area are U Illinois Urbana, U Wisconsin Madison, U Michigan Ann Arbor, Northwestern U. And lucky you, those are some of the strongest engineering/CS schools in the country, and considered good overall universities as well. They rank top 15 in engineering/CS. You really have some great choices there. You don't need to be a genius to go to those schools. You need to work hard. You can look up the average GPA and SATs of admitted students at each of these schools via the Princeton Review website. Others in your area that have good reps in your possible fields include Michigan State U, Illinois Institute of Tech, U Illinois Chicago, Kettering U, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Bradley U, and Michigan Tech U. Those aren't as "OMG, you went where?" as the others, above, but they are well respected, solid programs. U Chicago is an interesting choice. They are, of course, one of the top overall universities in the nation, but that said, they aren't top ranked for CS or Engineering.
4 :
U of W Madison, U of I Urbana, U of Chicago, U of Michigan, and Northwestern are all extremely tough to get into. If you are just an above average student, why not try going to a local community college for 2 years, then transferring to one of these places, when it will be easier to be admitted? You could then also see if comp sci is the field for you or not

First of all, unless you know your gonna be a famous artist, going to an art school that costs that much is just a waste of money. 100k for an art history or photography degree, ouch. anyways, there are a ton of sites and companies that offer financial aid. Do some serious thinking if that is the kinda money you want to spend for a degree that if you don't make it famous will you with the ability to teach art at a low level. Good luck to you and wish you the best. Please know I am not hating, had no idea what i wanted to do when i went to college. Impressed that you do, you just might be able to find a better value.
2 :
Forget them. You want to get your first two years of college locally at a community college. Take all the art classes you can fit in around your requirements. When you have finished the first year, start looking at art colleges for your junior and senior year.
3 :
That's really no more than an out of state college... You pay for it through scholarships, grants, loans, etc. You could get the majority of your credits at a community college as long as they'd transfer and save a lot of money, although based on prerequisites you could still end up needing 3-4 years on top of the 2 at community college before you'd get a degree

Finding a culinary school?

I'm 18 and I have a very bad education. At 13 while I was in the 6th grade I was pulled out of school due to many things mostly my dyslexia and aspergers (if you don't know what it is google it and please don't talk about somethin you don't know) after that my mom home schooled me for about a year to two years after her and my dad were having issues and were separated for a small time in which I got VERY behind on school to far to go back into regular school and to far for my mom to help me that was about 3-4 years ago now so I have about a 7th grade education. now I want to be a cook NOT a chef there is a difference ( * A chef is trained to master culinary forms, but also to provide creative innovation in menu, preparation and presentation. * A cook is trained to master forms of food preparation, but usually takes close direction from a chef.) I'm not sure were or what direction to go i live in Fuquay North Caroline but i may move to Milwaukee Wisconsin. Please im not sure what to do any direction will help also Indiana Michigan Minnesota Illinois are options aswell also Indiana Michigan Minnesota Illinois are options aswell

A lot of people end up spending an arm and a leg on education when they could do the same thing for free. I would apply to local restaurants. Talk to the cooks. Try to find one that really likes what they do and would be willing to teach you. After a few years, even if it's just one, if you want to learn more you could apply to local school. The problem would be finding a good mentor/boss. I'm sure you'll learn a few things in school after working in the real world but in the end I think you'll know the important things already.

There are a lot of good culinary arts schools in that area of the country. Pick a few and visit them
